so it be..!!

We are living in a fast paced world- most importantly a highly advanced technological time period.

Some of us have seen both the worlds well! ' no gadgets to gadgets' ; ' food to vitamins'; 'speaking/socializing to texting'; ' cooking to fast/instant food' etc... to name a few 'small' changes.

one of the fast changing fields is electronics- in particular phones, going from  - ' circular dialing to touch tone to cordless  to mobile to smart ' and the other is the automobile industry.

Except for kids (toddlers to teenagers) all over the world, we  adults , haven't advanced very well in using our grey cells  in knowing and operating these things! I am sure we have similar experiences to share with regard to this issue, when connecting to the fast changing technology.

A couple of them from me :

Adventure ONE...

One of these days.. most unexpectedly I got to ride a very expensive car .  It was a dream come true for me.. since I come from.. and am still in the  "OMG  that CAR ??????" community.

here goes the complete story:

one nice and sunny September afternoon, I was volunteering at the front desk for a dance drama held at my university campus. I was busy running around helping people with snacks and tickets.

One of the organizers hurried up to me and asked me if I can drive around campus and find the caterer, who was supposed to bring in tea for the guests. He lost his way, and was tired of going in circles on campus. I gladly accepted to help, but then quickly realized, that I did not have my own car to go, as I was given a ride to the place.

Without hesitating I  told her so, and she did some quick thinking and gave me her keys and asked me to drive her car to get him to the place ASAP!!

I rushed to the parking garage as per her instructions and tried to unlock her car. As i pressed the unlock mode on the key, i realized it was  this CAR!

i had to press the start button to - keyless start it is.. and now started the real trouble. i could not find the gear rod.. it took me a few minutes to figure it out. i felt awkward and decided to go back and tell her that i could not drive it.

i counted 1 through 5 for a 'serenity' mode.. and scanned the entire dashboard and front panel for relevant stuff- to get the car go..i managed to shift the gear after finding it :) and moved on..
after a short drive, I heard my phone ring. The lady who spoke to me earlier, told me that the caterer reached the front desk.

I was  relieved that I did not have to drive the car any longer, and took a U-turn to go back.

I realized I had to take  a left turn to reach the parking lot- so wanted to turn on the indicator. BOOM.. I did not find the indicator! It was supposed to be near the steering wheel from my knowledge of cars.. honestly.. i did not find it there. or atleast did not understand how to operate whatever was on there.- to turn on the left indicator.

guess what next?? I lowered the window and starting waving my hand to the oncoming traffic-- signalling for a left turn. people might have thought I had six heads.. coz driving that big a CAR and i I could not use the indicator.

I parked the car, stopping over twice- to make sure I did not hit the car behind me. Because of the height, I could not use the rear view mirror, very well. And this car did not have a rear view camera- which is a standard feature for such expensive cars!

In short- you don't find things you need -where you need them!


Moral of the story : The grass on the other side is not green!

Adventure TWO....


I drove into the parking lot of a departmental store a few days ago, when I saw a car parked right in front of the doorway. It seemed like the battery was dead and the lady in the car could not move it from its place. She was trying to get some road side assistance.

Meanwhile, I saw another lady walk by and volunteered to help her out by jump starting her car with her own. I walked towards them to help her out in the process. She got the jump start cables from her car and gave them to me.

I asked this lady to open the engine door , so that I could hook up the cables to the battery. She tried, but could not find the lever to do that. She plainly said that she did not know where it was located. I went in and checked under the steering wheel- but could not find one readily. I pulled two other levers (one of them actually turned out to be a small glove compartment- probably intended for left over coins and change !!)  before the actual one. It was dark outside, and so we could not quickly locate the correct lever.

Finally we opened the front cover and hooked up the cables. A smaller adventure to save my life.

I am not trying to exaggerate, but things built these days are not so user-friendly.

Manufacturers and designers think they are providing the customers with more options and more comforts, but they are leaving out the 'convenience' and 'user-friendly' side !

Some standard functions atleast need to be stay in place whatever design changes may come with time. Or announce it loud and clear and  repeat it if necessary, so that people understand it.

With phones and other simple electronic gadgets the change is too fast. By the time the user aquaints himself/herself with a particular design, or function, a new one pops into the market.

Long live technology!!!

మొదలు ఎక్కడో , చివర అక్కడే..

ఏ దారమో పపందే వెళ్ళదే ఆ మబ్బు దాకా గాలిపటం.. అన్నారు సిరివెన్నెల ఒక పాటలో..
ఎంత గూడార్ధం దాగుందో అనుకున్నాను ఆ పాట విన్నప్పుడు.
అప్పుడే పుట్టిన పసికందు ని చూశాను మొన్న. ముడతలు పడిన చర్మం, బలం లేని వేళ్ళు, నిలపలేని మెడ..సృష్టి విచిత్రానికి ప్రత్యక్ష సాక్ష్యం గా ఉంది ఆ చిట్టి రూపం.
అప్పుడే పుట్టిన పాపాయి చేతికి స్పర్శ తెలియదు. తన వేళ్ళూ ఉన్నాయన్న విషయమే తనకి తెలియదు. కాలక్రమేణా ఆ చిట్టి చేతుల ఉపయోగం, వాటి ఉనికి తెలిసి వస్తుంది. బలం కలిగే కొలది, వాటి పట్టు పెరుగుతుంది.
అలాగే వాళ్ళు పుట్టిన వెంటనే ఎవరిని కళ్ళతో గుర్తించలేరు. స్పందించలేరు. కాని వినగలరు, చూడగలరు.
ఐనా అంతా మనకి ముద్దుగా, ఎంతో కనువిందుగా ఉంటుంది. ఎంత చిన్న చిన్న చేతులో, ఎంత చిన్న కాళ్ళో అంటూ తెగ ముద్దు చేస్తాం. ముచ్చట పడతాం.
మొత్తం కాకపోయిన, ఇంచు మించు ఇదే శరీర స్థిథి మనిషి జీవిత కాలం లో ఇంకోక సారి వస్తుంది. వార్ధక్యం లో.
కాని అప్పుడు ఏదీ ముద్దుగా , ముచ్చటగా అనిపించదు. వాంగి పోయిన అవయవాలు, పట్టు లేని చేతులు, వాలిపోతున్న తల..మొదలు ఎలాగో, చివర అలాగే..

ఎమి రాని, చేతకాని పసి బిడ్డకు సర్వం తానే అయ్యి చూశే తల్లి, తిరిగి తన వృధ్యాపం లో ఆ బిడ్డకు భారమయి పోతోంది.. ఇది మనిషి సృష్టించిన చిత్రం. సృష్టి విచిత్రం ముందు మనిషి సృష్టించిన చిత్రం బలం గా లేదు?

నీ చేతులకు సత్తువ లేనప్పుడు నా చేతులే నీ చేతులుగా చేసి నీకు అన్ని చేశాను, నీ కు నడక రానప్పుడు నా చేతులు అందించి నీన్ను నడిపించాను, నువ్వు కింద పడిపోతే నేను కంట నీరు పెట్టాను, మరి నా చేతుల లో సత్తువ లేనప్పుడు, నువ్వు నాకు నీ చేయి అందించాలి కదా?

చిట్టి రూపాన్ని చూసినప్పుడు ముచట వేయటానికి కారణం ఏమిటి? ముసలి రూపాని చూసినపుడు కలగపోవటానికి కారణం ఏమిటి?

రెండు శరీరాలే కదా?

కొన్ని కారణలు ఉన్నాయి.

పసితనం నిషకల్మషమైనది. వారి ఆలోచనలు, ఆశలు, అభిరుచులు, కనీసం వారి ఊహ కూడా మనకి తెలియదు. అది దైవత్వం. ఎమి రాయని కాయితం.

కాని వృధ్యాప్యం అలా కాదు. కనీసం మనం అలా అనుకోము. అవయవాలలో బలం లేకపోయినా, ఏమీ ఆలోచించే స్థితిలో వారు లేకపోయినా, వారి జేవితం కాలం అనుభవాలు, లోటు పాట్లు, ఇష్టాయిష్తాలు, రాగ ద్వేషాలు మనకు తెలియటమే..

నిజంగా అవసరమొచ్చినా, వారికి సహాయ పడటానికి ఆలోచిస్తాం, పూర్వపు అనుభవాలను మర్చిపోము. ఆ సందర్భం లో అలా అన్నారని, లేక మన మాటతో ఏకీభవించలేదని..గుర్తు తెచ్చుకొని మరీ కారణాల పరదాలను అడ్డు కట్టేస్తాం.

కాని సృష్టి తీరు ని గౌరవించాలి. పుట్టినపుడు ఎలా ఉందొ, పోయేటప్పుదు శరీర స్థితి అలాగే ఉంటుంది కాబట్టి, ఏ అరమరికలు లేకుండా, వీళ్ళని వాళ్ళలాగే స్వీకరించగలిగితే ఆ రెండు దశలలో లేని మనం దైవత్వాన్ని పొందినట్టే!

ఎక్కడికీ ఈ పయనం?

"చాల్లెంజ్" .. మా టీవీ లో ఈ కార్యక్రమం ఎవరైనా చూశారా? పోనీ కనీసం దాని ట్రయిలర్ అయినా చూశారా?
చూసి ఉండకపోతే మీకో చిన్న స్యాంపల్ ఇదిగో..

" నా కాళ్ళకి వంగి దండం పెట్టినా నీ రుణం తీరదు" , "చాలమ్మ, నీకంత సీను లేదు!", ఒక న్యాయ నిర్ణేతా స్థానం లో ఉన్న వ్యక్తి కళాకారుడితో అనే మాటలివి.
అదొక్కటే కాదు. ఇంక భాష లో, భావం లో, అవధులు దాటిన అసభ్యత యేరులై పారుతుంది ఆ కార్యక్రమంలో.
కల్మషం, పైశాచికత్వం, కట్టలు తెంచుకున్న క్రౌర్యం, ఇలా చెప్పుకుంటూ పోతే ఈ బ్లాగు అంతా సరిపేమొ..లేక నాకు తెలిసిన తెలుగు పదాలు సరిపోవేమొ..ఇవి నేడు మనకు టీవీ కార్యక్రమాలలో దర్శనమిస్తున్న తంతు.

ఒక పక్క ఆ అయిడియా సూపర్ సింగర్ కార్యక్రమం. అదొక చెత్త లా తయారయ్యింది. అందులో అయితే మరీ దారుణం. న్యాయ నిర్ణెతలే ఒకళ్ళతో ఒకళ్ళు అగౌరవంగా మాత్లాడుకోవటం, నేరాలు ఎంచుకోవటం, వారి వారి అహాలను అందరి ముందు సంతృప్తి పరచుకోవటానికి విచక్షణా రహితంగా నోతికొచ్చినట్టు మాత్లాడుకోవటం.. పరమ చిరాకుగా తయారయ్యింది వ్యవహారం. ఇదంతా ప్రేక్షకులకి వినోదం అనుకుంటున్నారనుకుంట!
జంధ్యల గారే బతికుంటే ఎన్ని నూతన పాత్రలకి రూపకల్పన చేసి ఉండేవారో?? ఆయన కూడా ఒక్క క్షణం హన్న! అని ముక్కున వేలేసుకొనే వారు.
అంత విచిత్రంగా ఉంది ఈ కార్యక్రమాల ధోరణి!

ఎడిటింగు అనేది మర్చిపోయినట్టు ఉన్నారు నిర్వాహకులు? లేక కావాలనే ఈ తంతు అంతా మనకు ప్రసారం చేస్తున్నారా? ఏమిటి దీని లోని మర్మం అని ఎంత ఆలోచించినా అర్ధం కావటంలేదు.
ఇదంత సభ్య సమాజం లో నేర్చుకోవలసిన అవసరమైన విద్య? ఇదేనా మీడియా మనకు నేర్పేది? పిల్లలు ఆ ప్రోగ్రములు చూసి అదే ధోరణి నేర్చుకొని, మన మీద ప్రయోగిస్తే మనం దాన్ని స్వీకరించగలమా?

బోడి టీవీ ని అనుకొని ఏమి ప్రయోజనం? ఒకపక్క ప్రజలను పాలించే నాయకులే పబ్లిక్కుగా భయంకరమైన బూతులు మాత్లాడుతుంతే?
యధ రాజా తధ ప్రజా అని ఊరికే అన్నారా?
ఇక పై భవిష్యత్తు క్లాసు పుస్తకాలలో 'వాడుక భాష ' అని ఒక కొత్త సబ్జెక్టు మొదలు పెట్టాలేమొ? అందులో ఒక్కొక్క పాఠం, ఒక్కో ప్రాంతీయ భాషలోని బూతులు, ద్వంద్వార్ధాలు చేర్చాలెమొ? అతిసయోక్తి కాదు.. నిష్టూరమైన నిజం ఇది.
ఎవరు ఎవరిని ఎంత బాగా తిట్టొచ్చు, ఎంత లెవెలుకి అగౌరవ పరచవచ్చు? లేక అవతలి వాళ్ళ ఓర్పు తో పని లేకుండా ఎంత వరకు అహం ప్రదర్శించవచ్చు? ఇలాంటివి కూడా నేర్పితే, ఇంకా బావుంటుంది.
ఇదంత 'కల్చఋ అని మర్చిపోకుందా చెప్పలి.

ఇదే మన 'కల్చరు అని మర్చిపోకుండా చెప్పాలి. సినిమలు అంటే, రాజకీయం అంతే, ఆహ్లాదం కోసమై ఉన్న ప్రాయొజిత కార్యక్రమాలు, కళా ప్రదర్శనలు, డయిలీ సీరియళ్ళు అంతే, ఎందులో ఈ ధోరణి లేదో అడగండి?
చ, టీవీ పెట్టాలంటే చిరకు వస్తోంది. అన్నీ, అందరూ, ఇంత నీచ స్థిథికి దిగజారి పోవటానికి స్ఫూర్థి ఏంటో, ఎవరో?

ఆకాశ గంగ!

మూడు వారాల క్రితం, రేలా రే రేలా ఒక ఎపిసోడ్ లో ఒక గాయని పాడిన పాట కు పరవశించి న్యాయ నిర్ణేత అయిన గోరటి వెంకన్న గారు అందుకున్న ఒక అద్భుత దృశ్య కావ్యం..ఈ వాన పాట..

గల్త గూటీ లోని గడ్డీని తడిపింది..

గువ్వ గూటి గులక రాళ్ళను జరిపింది..

తీతువా గొంతును తీయగా చేసింది..

అడివి పిట్టల ముక్కు పాసీ ని కడిగింది!

సెట్ల బిరడా మీదా బొట్లు బొట్లు రాలి..

గట్ల బండలపైన గంధమై పారింది!!

అయ్యొ వానొచ్చెనమ్మా ...వరదొచ్చెనమ్మా.

వానతోపాటుగా వణుకొచ్చెనమ్మా !

అనంత కాంతి పింజరములు అలరించే నింగిని నేలకు వెదజల్లేడి వాడు

సాగరముతోన చెలిమి

ఆ నింగి సాగరాల మధ్య బంధము జల చక్రము

ఇష్టముందో లేదో పట్నానికొచ్చింది

ముక్కు మూసుకొని మూసీలొ ముణిగింది!!!

రెలా రే రేలా .. దుమ్ము లేపు!!

మా టీవీ వారి ఒక అద్భుత సృష్టి ఈ కార్యక్రమం. ఇదేమి పూర్తి స్థాయి నూతన ప్రయోగం కాదు. మునుపు దూరదర్శన్ లో సాయంత్రం వేళల్లో వచే జనపద పాటల కర్యక్రమం ని అనుసరించి ఉంది. కాని నేటి తరానికి ఏమత్రం తీసిపోకుండా, ఈ మీడియా కాంపిటీటివె ప్రపంచం లో కూడా ఒక శాస్వత కీర్తి ని సొంతం చేసుకుంది.

అట్టడుగున దాగి ఉన్న ఆణిముత్యాలను వెలికి తీసి మనకు అందిస్తున్నారు ఈ అపర జానపద కళాకారులు. కొన్ని పాటల సాహిత్యం వింటుంటే, కంటుంటే, కలిగే అనుభూతి అనిర్వచనీయం.

జాతీత్య స్థాయిలో అవర్డులను సొంతం చేసుకొని, నిజంగా తెలుగు నేల మీద దుమ్ము లేపుతోంది. ఇటువంటి మంచి కార్యక్రమం అందిస్తున్న మా టీవీ వారిని మెచ్చుకొని తీరాలి.

సినిమా సాహిత్యం కి భిన్నంగా మట్టిలోంచి పుట్టిన మాణిక్యాలను సాహితీ ప్రియులకు అందచేసే ఈ కార్యక్రమాం ప్రశంసనీయం. తద్వారా సరైన గుర్తింపు లేక శిధిలమైపొతున్న అద్భుత సాహిత్యాన్ని తిరిగి జీవింపచేస్తున్న ఈ ప్రయతనం చాలా గొప్పది.

రెండు దరువులు విజయవంతంగా పూర్తి చేసుకుని, మూడవ దరువులోకి అడుగుపెట్టిన ఈ కార్యక్రమం అనతి కాలంలోనే అందరి అభిమానాన్ని చూరగొన్నది అనటంలో ఆస్చ్రయం లేదు.దీనికి ప్రత్యక్ష సాక్షులు రెండవ దరువు ఫయినల్స్ కి వేంచేసిన కళాభిమానులైనటువంటి వేల మంది ప్రేక్షకులే!!

రాష్ట్ర నలుమూలల జల్లెడ బట్టి ఆయా ప్రాంతీయ భషలలొ, యాసలలొ అద్భుత జానపదాలను వెలికితీస్తున్నారు.
అమ్మమ్మలు, తతమ్మల తరాలలతో ఆ పాటలు కూడా అంతరించిపోకుండా, ముందు ముందు తరాలు అవి నేర్చుకుంటారని, కాల చక్రంతో పాటే ఆ సాహిత్య సంపద తిరుగుతూ ఉంటుందనీ ఆశిద్దాం.

సాహిత్య పరంగా కొన్ని పద ప్రయోగాలు నిజంగా అద్భుతాలే.

Patience and perseverance..

I have been working on an experiment since April 2008. It took me almost 2 complete months to understand how things work ( or rather how am I supposed to make them work!) ..and then 2 other months how to manage and get to the next step, if something goes wrong.

Thanks to the excellent technical department at my workplace- its they who made most of it work- no doubt about it. They were so many stages I had to get through to reach where I stand now.We have had some results later in the year, and some small failures now and then- but I worked day and night to fight the situations.

One of the senior and experienced technical staff commented about the experiment saying that he hasnt seen a tough one like this in years! Now this scared me even more.

The components worked well , but only for a while.I collected enough data to put up an abstract. I woke up on the new year morning with some good news in my inbox- it said that my abstract is accepted.

Now there is a month left for the paper to go out and I havent had enough results to complete the paper.Everyday something or the other goes bad and I think the pressure of a deadline is not good. After almost 10 months almost..I have started to get low on my patience.

Perseverance and success are perpendicular to each other...just like in the picture above- they are sure to meet at some point. But when? is the question. how long do I have to continue like this?

Over the weekend when I was dusting my bookshelf, I came across my 4th grade moral science text book (my favourite one that I saved over all these years!)

Lesson 5: Perseverance!!! hmm.. is this any kind of hint?

I wont bore you too long.. a short story.. but something very relevant at this point..

Two little frogs were hopping in a farm and they came across a big bucket. They were curious and wanted to see what it contained.Both of them took a high leap and fell into the bucket.

It was filled with buttermilk! The walls of the bucket were slippery and sticky and they did not have a hard base or any kind of support to jump out. They started kicking their legs to keep themselves from drowning. But, after sometime, one of the frogs was tired and he stopped kicking. He drowned and died. Looking at this friend's fate,the other frog tried even more harder and continued kicking.

After sometime, he felt something hard under his legs. He was really tired from kicking so long, and he slowly climbed onto it and relaxed for a while. This hard thing was high enough for him to jump out. He finally jumped out of the bucket and went his way.

The frog's kicking action acted like churning and a ball of butter formed and separated out from the buttermilk.The frog's perseverance saved his life. He could successfully meet his goal.

I learnt the little lesson I needed. The moral of the story in bold said -"Dont give up, just remember what made you hold this long?"

I started working back on my experiment this week..only to see some light at the end of this long tunnel.. and a little hope that i will jump out someday.. !!
